Motorbike Adventures in Aveyron

Winding roads, breathtaking views, and a return to the campsite for a lively evening…
Belmont-sur-Rance is perfectly located in Southern Aveyron, at the crossroads of several regions renowned for their scenic routes: the Monts de Lacaune, the Rougiers de Camarès, and of course the Gorges du Tarn and the southern Tarn valley.
Motorcyclists love this area for its numerous curves and varied landscapes. Here are the best routes to explore from Belmont-sur-Rance for groups of riders:

The Gorge Loop (the classic must-do)

This is the most spectacular ride, perfect for a full day.
• Route: Belmont-sur-Rance → Saint-Affrique → Millau → The Gorges du Tarn (via the D907bis, the famous road along the river) → Climb up the Causse Méjean (for the Sublime Viewpoint) → Return to Millau or Saint-Affrique.
• Highlights for riders: Tight hairpin bends at the bottom of the Gorges, breathtaking views from the cliffside road (D996), and a must-stop at the Millau Viaduct.
• Distance/Duration: Approximately 200–250 km / 4 to 6 hours of riding, plus stops.

The Monts de Lacaune & Rougier Circuit

A shorter loop focused on local scenery, full of colors.
• Route: Belmont-sur-Rance → Lacaune (Monts de Lacaune, for altitude and forests) → Murat-sur-Vèbre → Le Rougier de Camarès (red, contrasting landscapes) → Sylvanès (visit the Abbey) → Return to Belmont.
• Highlights for riders: High-altitude roads in the Monts de Lacaune, striking contrasts with the red landscapes of the Rougier. Perfect for a half-day or a short day ride.
• Distance/Duration: Approximately 150 km / 3 to 4 hours.

Lakes and Aubrac (The Grand Tour)

For groups who want to ride long distances and discover the high plateaus.
• Route: Belmont-sur-Rance → Albi (explore the episcopal city, UNESCO World Heritage) → Return via the Tarn Valley → Sévérac-le-Château → Aubrac Plateau (open landscapes, feeling of freedom).
• Highlights for riders: Dramatic change of scenery, long curves on the Aubrac, exploration of medieval architecture and vast open spaces.
• Distance/Duration: Over 350 km / Full day (staging stops recommended).

Local Tip

Belmont-sur-Rance is also famous for its Karting and Supermoto Circuit (Karting Plus). If some members of your group are thrill-seekers, this can be an additional activity: it’s a technical track, popular with professionals, located just a few minutes from the campsite.
